“...In the wilderness, I find something more dear and connate than in the streets or villages… in the woods we return to reason and faith.”  -Ralph Waldo Emerson

Welcome

Outings are the backbone of the Scouting Movement. Since the early days of the Boy Scouts of America, Scouts have been in the outdoors exploring the beauty of all that Mother Nature has to offer. We are very fortunate here in Finger Lakes Council to have numerous camps and outdoor activities at our fingertips.

A “Where To Go Guide” provides Scout leaders—including Scoutmasters, Cubmasters, Webelos Leaders, Scouters and Scout families—with current information on places to go camping, hiking, canoeing, cycling, horseback riding, and boating. It also provides information for other short-term recreational activities. Additionally, this guide serves as a reference tool for Scouting Policy regarding these outdoor activities and informs leaders about awards and recognitions provided by the Boy Scouts of America for camping, hiking, conservation, historical trails, and other outdoor activities.

Please take this time to explore this site, many entries have links to outside sources that you can obtain further information. A great deal of time and effort has gone into making sure all entries are as accurate as possible but if you see an error please let us know. In addition, please offer suggestions to improve this site. The actual “Where to Go” part can be linked from the “Where to Go” Page found to the left, or the individual activities can be linked to at the bottom of any page. Camping Policies and other information are available in the left side bar on all pages.

This website is Phase Two of Three phases of our camping promotion material. In Phase One, all Units received a copy of the “Where to Go Guide” on CD. In Phase Three, three roaming displays with more information and a library containing most of the books listed on this site will be available. These displays will be at most Council events and Roundtables meetings.  They will also be available for camping promotion at Unit meetings. If you would like a OA visit for Camping Promotion see the Camp Promotion Page.

Whatever you choose to do, Ganeodiyo Lodge hopes that you have a safe and fun activity. Let us know how it goes and help us keep information updated.
