Short-Term Camping at Beautiful Camp Babcock-Hovey: Weekends (Friday evening till Sunday noon) during the months of September through May are available for short-term camping. Check out the calendar for facilities availability, then send in a Short-Term Camping Application with a $25 security deposit & rental fee for the facilities you wish to rent. You may call 315-789-1166 or email dstaples@fingerlakescouncil.org to tentatively "book" a weekend. The council will hold your request for week. Upon receipt of your paperwork and money we will then confirm your weekend and send you a confirmation. All out of council units: All campers at Babcock-Hovey must have Health & Accident Insurance. Most councils carry this coverage for their members. Your council can provide a certificate of insurance that you should bring with you to camp. Also, don't forget your Tour Permit. Things to do at Camp COPE Course Available at Babcock-Hovey: Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience. Project COPE is a series of activities that includes 30 initiative games, 12 low course elements and 4 high course elements. The high course features a 50-foot climbing wall with rappel and a 360-foot zip line. The course is not a fitness course, nor is it a timed event. Nature Trails: There are 3 trails at Babcock-Hovey. Owl, Beaver, & Turtle Trails The Finger Lakes Council is blessed with many dedicated volunteer leaders that keep the camp's infrastructure in good shape. Attend Beaver Days: Do your part to help with the upkeep of camp. Beaver Day is generally scheduled for 2 Saturdays in June and 1 Saturday in October. There is great fellowship and a hearty meal, which leaves you with a good feeling that you helped this camp continue to provide a quality facility for our youth. During the Spring Beaver Days your work crew can camp for free, plus youth will earn Hovey Bucks to spend at the camp T-post during summer camp.
